History
Macapá was founded on November 18, 1944, from the defunct Panair Esporte Clube club in Macapá, which had won the state championship in 1944. In 1946, it changed its name to Current position: Esporte Clube Macapá.

Greatest Idol
In 2009, Macapá made the biggest signing in its history: controversial defender Júnior Baiano (ex-Flamengo, Vasco, São Paulo e Palmeiras(who also played for the Brazilian national team), from Volta Redonda-RJ.
